Supplies and RV accessories for your new rig

RV Accessories

Our new RV

Purchasing your new recreational vehicle or RV is only the first of many expenses you will have. The list of RV accessories is long and can add up so watch for sales. Garage sales are a great place for dish ware and other sundries.

When we picked up our RV from Apache RV Camping in Poulsbo, they included a starter kit which included; a blackwater hose, a freshwater hose, toilet paper, pressure reducer and tank chemicals.

If you’ve owned an RV before or are trading in for a new trailer or motor home then you may already have a lot of these accessories, tools and gadgets. While none of these are expensive by themselves for a while I felt like I was getting $20 dollared to death. The good news is once you have most of these RV accessories you are all set to go.

I tend to think in terms of “kits”. I like to have everything organized so it is easy to find and keep track of. Many of these kits are kept in rubber maid containers, so I have one for blackwater, fresh water, a smaller lidded box for the black water flush hose, a bag for the electrical as well as a large duffle for the solo stove and the make fire items. In this way after a trip it is easy to keep track of what consumables need to be replenished and can quickly load the bed of my pick up truck as we head out to our next adventure.

Below are items we have purchased and liked…so for instance I did not include rubber gloves in the blackwater kit below because the ones I bought are too small but I’m too stubborn to throw them out…..when I’ve used them all up I’ll research better ones and add a note below. I also purchased some towing mirrors that I’m not real thrilled with so am looking for alternatives. I hope the list below helps you get started with your RV adventure faster and not buy things you either don’t need or won’t work.  I’m a gadget guy anyway so researching and buying these RV accessories was fun.
